Amanda Dahlstrand is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Economics, University of Zurich. Her research focuses on health and technology, matching and productivity dynamics, and incentives in publicly provided services. She holds a PhD in Economics from the London School of Economics (2022), where she won the Sir John Hicks Prize for an outstanding doctoral thesis. Her academic journey includes a Master in Research from LSE, MA in International and Development Economics from Yale (top of her class), and a First Class Honours BA in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics from the University of Oxford.
Her work bridges economic theory and policy, examining how digital technologies reshape service provision and productivity in diverse contexts. Key projects explore CEO-firm matching effects on global productivity, telemedicine impacts, and long-term urban planning in Tanzania. She has been awarded grants from the Swiss National Science Foundation, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and others.
