Christopher Pissarides

Prof. Sir Christopher Pissarides is the IAS Helmut & Anna Pao Sohmen Professor-at-Large at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) and Regius Professor of Economics at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). He is also the Professor of European Studies at the University of Cyprus and Chairman of Cyprus's Council of National Economy.

• Research Focus: Labor market frictions, structural change, and economic growth, particularly in Eurozone integration, AI's impact on work, and China's economic transitions.

His work on equilibrium unemployment theory and job market matching has influenced global economic policy. Recent media engagements address automation, youth unemployment, and Eurozone stability.
