Amanda Coutts

Amanda Coutts is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Science & Technology at Nottingham Trent University. Her expertise spans molecular biosciences, with a focus on tumor cell survival, motility, and the integration of transcriptional regulation with stress response mechanisms.

• Role: Module Leader for Cell Culture and Antibody Technology (MSc flexi), Molecular Biology and Protein Structure (UG), and Cancer/Cell Signaling modules.
• Research: Investigates how transcriptional co-factors like JMY link cytoskeletal events to nuclear processes during stress, impacting p53 activity and cell survival.

Scientific Contributions: She has authored key publications on actin nucleation, autophagy, and DNA damage response. Her work on JMY's role in hypoxia-driven cell motility and autophagosome formation has advanced understanding of cancer metastasis and cell survival pathways.

External Engagement: Dr. Coutts serves as Associate Editor for Bioscience Reports and has held editorial roles for Methods in Molecular Biology and Cell Cycle Oscillators. She is Chair of the Oxford Branch of the British Science Association (2009-2016).
