Amanda Clarke is the Deputy Head of Division (Nursing and Healthcare Education) at the University of Chester's Warrington campus, part of the School of Nursing and Midwifery within the Faculty of Health, Medicine and Society. She has held leadership roles since 2013, including Deputy Head of Department (2013–2015, 2020–2024) and Deputy Director of Pre-registration Nursing (2015–2018). She is a Senior Fellow of Advance HE, Registered Nurse (Adult), and holds multiple academic qualifications including a MProfS in Professional Studies (2018) and MEd in Professional Education (2009).
Her research focuses on nurse education, including numeracy skills for student nurses, clinical competence assessment, and the transition of nurse academics into higher education. Teaching interests include leadership and transprofessional innovation in adult nursing and health/social care. She supervises master’s-level students on MPH and MSc Advanced Clinical Practice programs.
Professional certifications include IOSH Managing Safely (2020) and a PGDip in Leadership and Management in Higher Education (2023). Prior to academia, she worked in NHS hospitals (1990–2005) as a Senior Theatre Practitioner and Recovery Nurse in post-anaesthesia care.
Her sole published work, Basic writing and essay planning skills (2013), contributes to health and social care student education. She actively engages in curriculum development and strategic management at the university.
