Amanda Brunk serves as an Instructor in Contemporary Voice and Coordinator of Contemporary Commercial Music Voice at Wilfrid Laurier University's Faculty of Music. A PAVA-Recognized Vocologist and Designated Linklater Teacher, she specializes in contemporary voice technique, voice habilitation, and cross-training between classical and contemporary commercial music (CCM) styles, with additional coaching roles at Sheridan College and the University of Toronto.
Her research focuses on vocology, science-informed pedagogy, and the integration of voice techniques for singers and actors, particularly addressing voice disorders and musical theatre production. She emphasizes practical applications of voice science across performance disciplines while maintaining a private studio in Waterloo, Ontario.
Brunk's scholarly contributions include publications in the NATS Journal of Singing and VASTA Voice and Speech Review, demonstrating her commitment to evidence-based voice education. Her work bridges academic theory with professional performance standards through publications and pedagogical innovation.
She has mentored students who perform across Canada, on North American tours, and in Broadway productions. As Founder and Artistic Director of The Singer's Theatre since 2002, she leads a summer training program attracting North American participants, and serves as vocal director for cruise lines while adjudicating nationally in classical, choral, pop, and music theatre categories.
