Dr. Amanda Alderton is a Vice Chancellor’s Postdoctoral Research Fellow at RMIT University’s School of Global, Urban and Social Studies. She holds a PhD in Global, Urban and Social Studies (RMIT University) and a Master of Public Health (University of Melbourne). Her research focuses on mental health inequities, particularly how unequal living conditions contribute to disparities in mental health across populations. Key interests include neighborhood effects, built environment interventions, and early childhood development. She collaborates with the Murdoch Children's Research Institute and has held roles as a Research Officer and Project Manager at RMIT.
Her work emphasizes spatial indicators to address mental health inequities in critical developmental periods like early childhood and adolescence. Recent projects include analyzing neighborhood disadvantage impacts on child mental health and developing frameworks for urban liveability aligned with global sustainability goals. She is open to supervising Masters and PhD students in these areas.
Dr. Alderton’s publications span urban health policy, disability-inclusive environments, and data-driven approaches to improving child well-being. She leads interdisciplinary collaborations to translate research into actionable policies for equitable urban development.
