Aman A. is a Research Fellow at the Institute of Social and Cultural Anthropology within the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Hamburg, serving since May 2024.
Education:
- M.A. Anthropology, University of Leipzig (2020-2024) - Thesis: "Emotions in academia: Ethnography of a German research institute"
- M.A. Political Science, University of Delhi (2018-2020) with focus on Political theory, comparative analysis, and International Relations
- B.A. Honours in Political Science, Kirori Mal College, University of Delhi (2015-2018) specializing in Western/Indian political philosophy and international political economy
Research Interests: Aman's work centers on the Anthropology of Emotion and Medical Anthropology, employing Phenomenological approaches to examine emotional experiences in academic and healthcare settings. His Political Philosophy research integrates Western and Indian theoretical frameworks, with deep regional expertise in German Studies and South Asian Studies. Current investigations explore decolonial methodologies and cultural-religious dynamics in European contexts.
Research Experience: He contributed to the SFB1199 research cluster "Processes of Spatialization under the Global Condition" at Leipzig and the CUREDI project (Cultural and Religious Diversity under State Law across Europe) at the Max Planck Institute. His teaching includes tutoring "Decolonizing Anthropology" courses, demonstrating commitment to critical pedagogy.
