Amal El-Sawad

Dr. Amal El-Sawad works part-time as a Senior Lecturer in Human Resource Management and Organisation Studies at the School of Business and Management, Royal Holloway, University of London. Previously, she served as an Associate Professor at Zayed University in Abu Dhabi and has professional experience in both public and private sectors, including IBM UK. A Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, her research has been published in journals like Human Relations and Group and Organization Management.

Amal specializes in integrating theatre, music, and creative arts into business and management education. She designed two undergraduate modules—Management, Music and Creativity and Management and the Arts—and authored a Coursera course titled Explore Management Concepts Through Metaphor and Music. Her innovative teaching methods earned her the Royal Holloway 2022 Teaching Excellence Prize.

Amal has recently expanded into composing for theatre, including her first professional commission for Mikron Theatre Company's play Twitchers (2023) and a 2025 touring play. She also runs Exit Stage Write, offering arts-inspired training programs for businesses and community groups, and was part of the Royal Court Theatre's new writers' group in 2022.
