Dr Amairisa Kouki is a Lecturer in Economics at the School of Economics, University of Sheffield. Prior to this role, she held positions at Nottingham Business School and served as a teaching and research assistant at colleges within the University of London.
Her research focuses on applied microeconomics, with emphases on labour economics, gender economics, education economics, and emerging work in behavioural economics. Key themes include gender, racial, and other socioeconomic disparities in labour force participation, pay, and career advancement. Notably, she examines how childcare responsibilities and remote work practices influence female racial pay gaps. She also investigates how student demographics shape educational choices and perceptions in higher education.
Her publication record includes work on work-from-home policies and racial wage disparities, such as a 2024 article in European Economic Review.
Dr Kouki is actively supervising PhD students in labour economics, gender economics, and education economics.
