Amaia Sanchez Velasco is an Adjunct Professor at the School of Architecture, University of Technology Sydney (UTS). She is a founding member of Grandeza Studio, which explores late-capitalist spaces and critiques neoliberal violence through architectural design. Her work includes the award-winning Australian pavilion at the 2019 Milan Triennale (Golden Bee Award), focusing on climate crisis and environmental advocacy.
Her academic roles include coordinating Communications undergraduate subjects and teaching Design Studio at UTS. Research focuses on environmental geopolitics, urban violence, and critical spatial practices, with notable publications in Journal of Architectural Education, ARQ, and Theatre and Performance Design. She has led projects like The Plant (2017) and contributed to exhibitions addressing coral reef politics and post-liberal urbanism.
