Alíz Horváth is Assistant Professor of East Asian History and Digital Humanities at the Department of Historical Studies, Central European University (CEU), Vienna. Her work bridges intellectual and cultural history of East Asia (China, Japan, Korea) with critical digital humanities, emphasizing linguistic inclusivity and multilingual knowledge infrastructures.
Her research interests focus on transnational intellectual flows in East Asia and the challenges of applying digital methods to non-Western, multilingual contexts. She advocates for linguistic diversity in DH, having co-founded and chaired the DARIAH Multilingual DH Working Group, contributed to the New Languages for NLP project, and served on editorial boards such as OpenMethods and Reviews in DH. Her recent publications explore UX personas, NLP limitations in Asian contexts, and community-driven inclusivity.
The trends in her scholarly output (2018–2025) reveal a sustained commitment to decolonizing digital methodologies, amplifying marginalized voices, and building equitable digital infrastructures for East Asian studies. Her work consistently emphasizes community engagement, open science, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
