Alize Arican is an Assistant Professor of Anthropology at City College of the City University of New York (CUNY). Her research focuses on urban life, temporality, migration, racialization, and care, with a current book project centered on Istanbul’s Tarlabaşı neighborhood. She is affiliated with Anthropology, Gender Studies, and International Studies departments. Her work has been published in journals such as Environment and Planning D, Current Anthropology, and City & Society, and she has received awards from the American Anthropological Association, Middle East Studies Association, and American Ethnological Society. Additionally, she hosts a podcast on the New Books Network and contributes to platforms like the CASTAC Blog and Status Podcast.
