Dr. Alyssa Johnson is an Assistant Professor of English at Charleston Southern University. She holds a PhD in English from Texas Christian University, focusing on Gothicized depictions of Protestant fanatics in nineteenth-century British fiction.
- Credentials: PhD, MA, BA in English from TCU and ACU
- Research Interests: Christianity and the Gothic in long-nineteenth-century British fiction, vampire studies, failed religion themes, and cultural representation.
Her recent publications explore intersections of Gothic literature, religious themes, and postcolonial critiques, including work on Dracula, Elizabeth Gaskell, and Silvia Moreno-Garcia’s Mexican Gothic. She has received fellowships and awards such as the University STARS Fellowship and Outstanding Thesis Award.
