Preeshita Biswas is a PhD Candidate in Literature at Texas Christian University (TCU), within the Department of English in the AddRan College of Liberal Arts, and concurrently a Visiting Research Fellow at Waseda University in Tokyo. Her academic profile integrates graduate certifications in Women and Gender Studies and Comparative Race and Ethnic Studies with research spanning trans-imperial literary networks and multiethnic cultural intersections.
Her scholarly focus centers on global Anglophone prose fiction, graphic novels, and visual cultures—including manga and anime—with specialized attention to Indo-Japanese literary networks, body politics (flesh/skin), periodicals, and queer theory across East, South, and Southeast Asia. Her doctoral project investigates trans-imperial literary connections between England, Japan, and India during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, positioned at the crossroads of British and Japanese imperialisms and South/Southeast Asian postcolonial aftermaths.
