Dr. Alyson King is a Professor in the Faculty of Social Science and Humanities at Ontario Tech University, where she also serves as Associate Dean for Undergraduate Student Experience. She holds a PhD in History of Education from the University of Toronto and specializes in student experiences, academic integrity, and underrepresented populations in higher education.
Her research explores innovative pedagogies through projects including the Partnership on University Plagiarism Prevention (PUPP) and SSHRC-funded investigations into underrepresented student success strategies. She teaches courses spanning political science, communication, and indigenous studies, employing an interdisciplinary approach informed by her background in history and international relations.
Dr. King's publications consistently address themes of educational equity, mental health support systems, and decolonizing pedagogies. Recent works analyze institutional barriers facing Indigenous students, mental health frameworks in adult education, and participatory methodologies in community-university collaborations.
She has mentored numerous graduate and undergraduate researchers examining educational policy, housing politics, and community-based advocacy. Current projects investigate generative AI's impact on academic integrity frameworks and community-engaged research methodologies.
