Alyson Carrel

Alyson Carrel is a Clinical Professor of Law at Northwestern Pritzker School of Law and serves as Co-Director of the Center on Negotiation, Mediation, and Restorative Justice, a nationally-ranked program advancing innovative dispute resolution practices. She is a recognized leader in legal education, dispute resolution training, and law & technology integration.

Her research and professional work focus on:

• Emerging technologies in dispute resolution
• Development of the Delta Model—a client-driven competency framework for 21st-century legal professionals
• Integration of technology in legal education and mediation advocacy
• Training programs for law firms, courts, government, and nonprofit organizations

Carrel has led high-impact initiatives including:

• Grant-funded use of wearable cameras in negotiation simulations
• Fellowship to integrate A2J Author in mediation courses
• Founding TEaCH LAW, a faculty instructional technology initiative

She has provided dispute resolution training to organizations such as Baker McKenzie, Cook County Juvenile Court, HUD, Coca-Cola, and the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago.

Her scientific recognition includes:

Carrel previously served as Assistant Dean of Law & Technology until 2019, where she spearheaded legal innovation programs. She continues to advise on legal education reform and leads faculty development efforts. She teaches courses in Mediation and dispute resolution.

She is affiliated with the Center on Negotiation, Mediation, and Restorative Justice, which serves as a hub for research, training, and policy development in restorative justice and ADR.
