Alyson Carrel is a Clinical Assistant Professor at Northwestern Pritzker School of Law and Co-Director of the Center on Negotiation, Mediation, and Restorative Justice. She leads legal technology and innovation initiatives, including developing the Delta Model for 21st-century legal competencies. Her roles include teaching negotiation and mediation, managing grants for instructional technology, and advising on career development in law. She previously served as Assistant Dean of Law & Technology, Training Director at the Center for Conflict Resolution, and Program Manager for juvenile mediation in Florida.
Education: B.A. in Women’s Studies (University of Florida, 1997); J.D. (University of Missouri, 2004). Research focuses on integrating technology into legal education and dispute resolution, emphasizing client-centered approaches and emerging legal tools. She has developed TEaCH LAW, a tech demonstration series, and Design Your Delta, a competency-building framework. Carrel frequently trains organizations like law firms, courts, and nonprofits in negotiation and mediation.
Her articles explore topics such as secure reporting mechanisms for misconduct settlements, AI’s role in legal intelligence, and digital mediation pedagogy. She emphasizes bridging gaps between technology and traditional legal practices. Grants include wearable camera use in simulations and A2J Author integration in mediation clinics.
