Alper Kara is a Professor of Banking and Finance and Head of the Department of Economics, Finance & Accounting at Brunel University London. Previously, he served as Head of the Department of Accounting, Finance and Economics at the University of Huddersfield (2017–2023) and held academic roles at Loughborough University and Hull University Business School. His research focuses on financial stability, banking governance, securitization, and financial inclusion. He co-authored books on securitization and Turkish banking and contributed to policy institutions like the ECB, IMF, and BIS.
