Alper Evrensel, MD, is an Associate Professor of Psychiatry at Üsküdar Üniversitesi. He graduated from Gülhane Faculty of Medicine (1999) and completed a Doctorate in Psychiatry (2002). His research focuses on the gut-brain axis, neuroinflammation, psychiatric disorders, and microbiota-brain interactions. He has authored over 50 publications and edited books on topics like fecal microbiota transplantation and psychobiotics.
Key research interests include the role of gut microbiota in depression, neurophilosophical perspectives on consciousness, and immunotherapy for psychiatric conditions. He has presented at international congresses on psychiatry and microbiota. His work spans clinical studies, case reports, and theoretical frameworks in neuroscience and philosophy.
Evrensel is affiliated with Üsküdar University Polyclinic in Etiler and has held roles in academic editing, such as contributing to Current Opinion in Pharmacology. His research highlights interdisciplinary approaches to mental health, emphasizing biological and environmental factors.
