Dr. Alpana Mair is an Associate Professor at the School of Health and Social Care, Edinburgh Napier University. She is an internationally recognized expert in medication optimization, polypharmacy, and patient safety, with significant contributions to EU projects and WHO initiatives.

Her research focuses on polypharmacy, medication safety, and implementation science, addressing global challenges in multimorbidity, health inequalities, and pharmacogenomics. Recent publications highlight her work on deprescribing strategies, adherence feedback interventions, and quality prescribing guidelines for diabetes, antidepressants, and benzodiazepines.
Scientific awards include the Causeway award (Health and Well-being category) by the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh, and professional fellowships including Fellow of the Faculty of Royal Pharmaceutical Society (FFRPharmS) and Member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (MRPharmS).
