Alp Simsek is a Professor of Finance at the Yale School of Management. He is also a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) and a Research Fellow at the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR). Previously, he held academic positions at MIT and Harvard University.

- B.S. in Mathematics (2004) and Computer Science (2004) from MIT
Simsek's research bridges macroeconomics and finance, focusing on belief-driven market fluctuations, monetary policy interactions with asset prices, and financial frictions amplifying economic shocks. His work employs applied theoretical frameworks and empirical validation.
Recent publications address central bank communication, financial conditions targeting, and the Wall/Main Street disconnect. Awards include the National Science Foundation CAREER award, Brattle Prize, and Western Finance Association NASDAQ award.
As an educator, he has taught courses on macro-finance, financial markets, and financial crises at Yale, MIT, and Harvard. Professional service includes co-editing the Journal of the European Economic Association and organizing NBER and SFS Cavalcade conferences.
