Alok Yadav is an Associate Professor in the Department of English at George Mason University (GMU) and Director of the Center for Humanities Research (CHR). His research focuses on 18th-century British literature, postcolonial and world literature, and the cultural impact of nationalism and imperialism. He holds a Ph.D. in English from Cornell University (1993) and previously taught at the California Institute of Technology and the University of Chicago.
Yadav’s current projects include a digital anthology of African American writing and a book on Kipling's Kim and political criticism. He has published widely on topics such as fictionality, postcolonial theory, and the picaresque genre. His work has appeared in journals like ELH, Novel, and Cultural Critique.

Yadav teaches courses such as British Novel of the Eighteenth Century and Idea of a World Literature, emphasizing interdisciplinary and digital humanities approaches. His research bridges historical literary analysis with contemporary postcolonial and global perspectives.
