Alma Fulurija

Dr. Alma Fulurija is an Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of Western Australia (UWA) in the School of Biomedical Sciences' Department of Microbiology and Immunology. She concurrently serves as Head of Immunology at Ondek Pty Ltd, a biotech company co-founded by Prof. Barry Marshall. Her roles include academic research, industry collaboration, and teaching. She holds a PhD from UWA (2002) and has postdoctoral experience at the WHO Collaborating Centre for Immunology and Vaccinology in Geneva.

Teaching responsibilities include undergraduate immunology courses (since 2007) and Masters programs at the Marshall Centre for Infectious Disease Research and Training (since 2008). She co-supervises 2 PhD students and oversees Ondek’s immunology team (1 research assistant, 2 postdoctoral scientists).

Research focuses on host-pathogen interactions, particularly H. pylori pathogenesis, and vaccine development. Current grants include investigating molecular mechanisms of H. pylori survival and projects on Streptococcus pyogenes immunity. Notable collaborations span global health and infectious disease prevention.
