Allister Hirschman is a Clinical Assistant Professor in Internal Medicine at Yale School of Medicine. He serves as a Physician Assistant (PA) on the Yale New Haven Hospital Surgical Float team, providing cross-specialty surgical care since 2008. His full-time career began in the Adult Emergency Department (AED), where he earned two Employee of the Month awards.
Education: Received a Physician Assistant degree from Long Island University in 2008.
Research & Clinical Focus: Addresses healthcare disparities, promotes gender-affirming surgery practices, and improves patient experience and provider wellness. He actively contributes to LGBTQ+ healthcare education through roles in the Dean's Advisory Council on LGBTQI+ Affairs and the Women's and Gender Health Resident Education Program.
Awards: Includes YNHH's APPlause (2021) and Great Catch (2020) awards, recognizing clinical excellence and safety contributions.
Professional Service: Serves on the Management Team of the LGBTQI+ Affairs Council and chairs the Clinical Care Working Group. Provides LGBTQ health education across YNHHS institutions.
