Dr. Allison O'Leary is an Associate Professor of Psychology and Coordinator of the Psychology Major at Brevard College. She holds a Ph.D. and M.A. from Ohio State University and a B.A. from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
Her research focuses on metacognition in developmental contexts, particularly examining how children develop metacognitive strategies and apply them across tasks. Key interests include the interplay between feedback, cognitive control, and decision-making processes in early childhood.
Her recent work explores belief updating through metacognitive reflection (2024) and the independent functioning of metacognitive components during development (2018-2017). Earlier studies investigated task-switching behaviors (2014) and auditory overshadowing in preschoolers (2013).
