معرفی
Professor Allan Lawrie is Chair of Pulmonary Vascular Diseases at the National Heart & Lung Institute, Faculty of Medicine, Imperial College London. He previously served as Professor of Translational Cardiopulmonary Science at the University of Sheffield (2018–2022), where he established a translational research program in Pulmonary Hypertension and co-founded the Donald Heath Centre for Pulmonary Hypertension Research. His academic journey includes a BSc (Hons) from Edinburgh Napier University and a PhD from the University of Sheffield.
Research Focus
Lawrie's research deciphers molecular mechanisms in pulmonary hypertension, emphasizing translational outcomes like novel therapies (e.g., an OPG-targeting antibody) and biomarkers. His work spans:
- Osteoprotegerin (OPG)/TRAIL axis pathology
- Cardiopulmonary disease mechanisms
- Therapeutic antibody development
- Clinical biomarker innovation
Awards & Leadership
- Senior Fellowships: British Heart Foundation, Medical Research Council
- Prestigious Society Fellowships: American Heart Association, Pulmonary Vascular Research Institute
- Key Roles: Co-Director of BHF Doctoral Training Programme; Chair of NHLI Research Committee; Trustee of Scleroderma & Raynaud's UK
- Grant Leadership: Secured MRC DPFS award for antibody therapeutics
Academic Contributions
Lawrie co-founded PH Therapeutics Ltd to advance pulmonary hypertension treatments and mentors through Imperial's BHF training initiative. He champions open research as NHLI's Open Research Lead.
