Adrian Hobbs

Professor Adrian Hobbs is a Professor of Cardiovascular Pharmacology at the William Harvey Research Institute, part of Queen Mary University of London's Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry. He serves as Deputy Centre Lead for the Translational Medicine and Therapeutics Centre. His academic journey includes a B.Sc. (First Class Honours) and Ph.D. from King’s College London, followed by postdoctoral research at UCLA (with Nobel Laureate Prof. Louis Ignarro) and University College London under Sir Salvador Moncada. His research focuses on nitric oxide (NO), guanylyl cyclases, and natriuretic peptides in cardiovascular pathophysiology, with translational emphasis on pulmonary hypertension, heart failure, and ischaemic disorders.

His research employs multi-disciplinary approaches, including molecular biology, pharmacology, and clinical studies. He leads a drug development program targeting NPR-C agonists for cardiovascular therapies. Teaching roles include coordinating BHF MRes programs and lecturing in Pharmacology. Current projects investigate CNP’s role in metabolic homeostasis and vascular inflammation.
