Allan Hazlett

Allan Hazlett is a Professor of Philosophy at Washington University in St. Louis and a Senior Research Associate at the African Center for Epistemology and Philosophy of Science (ACES) at the University of Johannesburg. He holds a PhD from Brown University (2006) and has previously served at Texas Tech University, Fordham University, the University of Edinburgh, and the University of New Mexico.

His research focuses on epistemology, metaethics, moral psychology, and aesthetics. He has authored three books, including *The Epistemology of Desire and the Problem of Nihilism* (2024), and published in journals like *Noûs* and *Philosophy and Phenomenological Research*. He has received the Rutgers Young Epistemologist Prize (2007) and an AHRC Early Career Fellowship (2013-2014).

Professional roles include Secretary of the Scots Philosophical Association, President of the Central States Philosophical Association, and editor for the Social Epistemology category on PhilPapers. He co-organized the 15th Midwest Epistemology Workshop and leads the Civil Society Initiative with Frank Lovett and Ron Mallon.
