Alka Nand is a Lecturer in the Department of Management at Monash University’s Faculty of Business and Economics. Her research and teaching focus on operations and supply chain management, with strong emphasis on sustainability, circular economy, and food waste. She has published in leading journals such as IEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, International Journal of Production Research, and Journal of Cleaner Production.

Alka’s recent research explores the integration of emerging technologies in logistics, stakeholder synchronization in healthcare supply chains, and organizational drivers for sustainability. Her publications span topics from operational capabilities in manufacturing to food waste in the hospitality sector, reflecting a strong interdisciplinary and applied focus.
She has been actively involved in research projects funded internally at Monash University and with Monash Health, focusing on procurement improvement and digital transformation in supply chains. She also serves as a supervisor and chief investigator on collaborative research initiatives.
Alka is the co-chair of the Australia and New Zealand Academy of Management (ANZAM) Operations, Supply Chain, and Services Management Symposium for 2021 and 2022, demonstrating her leadership in the academic community. She has also contributed to conferences such as the Decision Sciences Institute annual meeting.
She obtained her PhD from the University of Melbourne, where her thesis explored operational capabilities in Australian service and manufacturing industries using secondary data. She teaches both undergraduate and postgraduate courses in supply chain management and related fields.
