Aliza Hochman Bloom is an Assistant Professor of Law at Northeastern University School of Law. Her expertise lies in criminal procedure, Fourth Amendment doctrine, and criminal sentencing reform. Prior to joining Northeastern in 2023, she served as a faculty fellow at New England Law | Boston and a visiting scholar at Boston University School of Law.

Research Interests: Professor Hochman Bloom’s research focuses on criminal procedure, with a particular emphasis on Fourth Amendment doctrine and its application in modern legal contexts. She also advocates for reform in criminal sentencing, addressing systemic issues related to community policing, racial profiling, and the intersection of criminal law with civil liberties.
Professional Experience: Before her academic career, she worked as an Assistant Federal Public Defender in the appellate division of the Middle District of Florida. She clerked for Judge Charles R. Wilson of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit and Judge Charlene Honeywell of the Middle District of Florida. She also practiced as a litigation associate at Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton.
