معرفی
Alison Spodek Keimowitz is an Associate Professor of Chemistry and Director of Environmental Studies at Vassar College, joining in 2009. She holds a PhD from Columbia University's Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences (2006) and a Fulbright Fellowship at Tel Aviv University's Microbiology Department. Her research focuses on contaminants like arsenic and manganese in environmental systems, particularly at redox interfaces. She teaches courses such as General Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, and Global Change.
Education:
- BA, Wesleyan University
- MPhil, Columbia University
- MS, Yale University
- PhD, Columbia University
Research Interests: Her work combines field, lab, and computational methods to study contaminant mobility and redox-sensitive metals. She emphasizes environmental chemistry of arsenic and microbial interactions influencing pollution dynamics.
Grants/Awards: A 2017 NSF grant supported acquisition of an IC-ICP-MS for research and education. This equipment enhances Vassar's capacity in environmental analysis.
Labs/Teams: Leads environmental chemistry projects, involving undergraduate students in field and lab research, including collaborations on pollution studies in lakes and shallow groundwater systems.
