Alison Maggart is an Associate Professor of Instruction in Musicology at the University of Texas at Austin. Her research focuses on 20th- and 21st-century U.S. music, exploring intersections between music, science, and literature, with particular attention to serialism, posthumanism, and environmental ethics. She has presented at conferences on topics ranging from multisensory listening to opera in political campaigns, and her work has been recognized with awards including the AMS Ingolf Dahl Award. Maggart teaches courses on postwar utopias/dystopias, serial music, and feminist posthuman topics in experimental works.

Research Interests: Her interdisciplinary approach integrates musicology with philosophy, history, and environmental studies. Recent Focus: Maggart’s current work examines sound baths, postwar cosmic concerns in music, and feminist/posthuman experimental works. She is co-editing a forthcoming volume on bioluminescence and ecofeminist sound art.
