Alison Holley Affinati

Alison Holley Affinati is an Assistant Professor at the University of Michigan Medical School, affiliated with the Department of Internal Medicine and Division of Endocrinology. Her research focuses on understanding how the central nervous system regulates glucose homeostasis, particularly the role of the ventromedial hypothalamus in metabolic processes.

Her work explores neural circuits controlling glucose metabolism, stress-induced hyperglycemia, and interactions between the brain, adipose tissue, and liver. Affinati holds dual appointments as a Center Member at both the Taubman Institute and Caswell Diabetes Institute. She earned her MD and PhD from Northwestern Feinberg School of Medicine and completed post-doctoral training in the laboratory of Dr. Martin Myers at the University of Michigan.
