Alison Hales is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Education at the University of Greenwich and serves as the Quality Lead for professional placements and partnerships in Initial Teacher Education (ITE). She holds a BEd Hons in Primary Education with History from South Bank University, an MA from Kingston University, and is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Education at the University of Greenwich, focusing on contemporary history and children's understanding of war and conflict.
Her professional experience includes roles in primary school leadership, curriculum development, and teacher training. At the University of Greenwich, she has led Early Years provision for undergraduate and PGCE programs, designed the Enrichment Programme for Primary undergraduate students, and contributed to courses like the BA Hons with QTS and PGCE programs. Her teaching focuses on Humanities (history/geography), Education Studies, and Practice in year 3, as well as the Inspiring Primary Learners module in PGCE.
Alison’s research emphasizes alternative teacher training placements and professional development. She supervises final-year research projects, coordinates school experiences for PGCE and undergraduate students, and has held roles such as Leader of the Foundation Curriculum in a primary school.
