Alison Bray is an Associate Professor and Department Chair of Chemistry at Texas Lutheran University (TLU). She holds a Ph.D. in Geochemical Systems (University of New Hampshire, 2001) and degrees in Chemistry and Marine Science (University of San Diego, 1995). Her professional experience includes roles at Ransom Environmental Consultants Inc., where she managed environmental assessments and remediation programs.
Her research focuses on analytical and environmental chemistry, particularly metal and metalloid contamination in consumer products, arsenic uptake in rice, and hyper-crosslinked polymer development for arsenic remediation. She emphasizes experiential learning through undergraduate research collaborations. Notable recognitions include the 2014 USDA E. Kika De La Garza Fellowship and multiple academic grants.
Dr. Bray has advised numerous student researchers on projects such as toxic metal analysis in food and plants. She is a member of the American Geophysical Union and American Chemical Society, and serves as TLU’s Chemical Safety Officer and faculty advisor for the Pi Rho Chemistry Club.
