Alison Arden Besunder serves as a Lecturer in Law and Adjunct Faculty at Columbia Law School, Columbia University, while concurrently practicing as Partner and Chair of the Trusts & Estates Group at Goetz Fitzpatrick LLP. Her dual career spans legal academia and high-stakes litigation across New York's federal, state, and Surrogate's Courts.
Her academic and professional qualifications include:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from Brooklyn Law School (1998), where she was a Dean's Merit Scholar
Her research and practice focus on Trusts and Estates Law, Estate Planning, Probate Law, Guardianship Law, and Commercial Litigation. She represents clients in complex matters including Article 81 guardianships, contested accountings, and probate proceedings throughout New York City and Long Island.
Admitted to practice in New York State, the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, and the United States Supreme Court, she also serves on the board of the American Camping Association Tri-State Chapter, demonstrating commitment to community engagement beyond legal practice.
