She holds a BS in Family and Consumer Science/Nutrition (Southern Utah University, 2002) and an MS in Agriculture, Communication and Extension Leadership (The Ohio State University, 2020). Her work focuses on food insecurity, nutrition education, and community outreach, particularly through the Miami County Food Insecurity Alliance, which she founded in 2018. She has spearheaded initiatives like the Miami Jr Chefs program, emphasizing hands-on cooking and nutrition education for youth. Barton’s research areas include volunteer coordination in food security efforts, choice pantry training, and sustainable food practices.
Her professional affiliations include Ohio State University Extension, where she advises on county-level food security strategies and collaborates with local task forces.
