He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Toulouse School of Economics, a Master's from Tilburg University, and a Bachelor’s from São Paulo School of Economics. His research focuses on law enforcement in public finance and environmental regulation in developing countries, particularly policies to enhance environmental enforcement efficiency and reduce deforestation. His research interests include environmental economics, public economics, and applied econometrics. Notable projects involve analyzing tax audit algorithms in Senegal, historical indigenous land management impacts on deforestation, and satellite-based monitoring systems for environmental enforcement. His work bridges theoretical economic models with practical policy solutions, emphasizing the intersection of technology (e.g., satellites, VR) and environmental governance. Ferreira’s op-eds and media engagements address topics like pandemic economic impacts and fiscal policies in emerging economies.
