Dr. Alidad Amirfazli is a Professor & Chair of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at York University's Lassonde School of Engineering. His research focuses on surface engineering, droplet-surface interactions, and applications in anti-icing systems, fuel cells, and additive manufacturing. He has pioneered studies on droplet evaporation, liquid bridge dynamics, and compound droplet impacts.
Dr. Amirfazli has held prestigious roles such as Canada Research Chair in Surface Engineering and twice recipient of NSERC’s DAS Grant. He has collaborated internationally with institutions in Italy, Germany, Belgium, and Spain. His work extends to industry, serving as a consultant for multinational companies and on funding agency review boards. He contributed to interdisciplinary energy education at the University of Alberta, co-founding the Energy Club and developing a groundbreaking energy course aligning with Lassonde's Renaissance Engineering™ model.
His research facilities include advanced setups for droplet impact analysis, evaporation studies, and material characterization, such as rotary target systems and humidity-controlled chambers. His work addresses real-world challenges in aerospace, renewable energy, and structural protection.
