Alicja Rogusz is a Senior Lecturer in Post Registration Nursing and Deputy Programme Leader for the MSc Nursing at the University of Sunderland. She holds a PhD in qualitative research on thyroid cancer patient experiences and a PGCE in Higher Education. Her academic journey includes an MSc in Animal Science from the University of Agriculture in Krakow (2009), PGDip in Adult Nursing (2014), and an MSc in Practice Development (2015). She previously worked as a Clinical Research Nurse at the NIHR Clinical Research Network (2017–2021) and contributed to studies on thyroid cancer at Newcastle Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
Teaching roles include Module Lead for Dissertation Project (MSc Nursing), Advancing Quality Improvement, and Contraceptive Health modules. She also supervises MSc and PhD students. Research interests span cancer patient wellbeing, women’s health, and equestrian injury studies. Rogusz serves on the Sunderland University Ethical Group, reviewing research applications, and presented at the 2023 World Congress of Thyroid Cancer.
Awards include the 2022 Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy. Her current focus includes advancing nursing education and translating her thyroid cancer research into peer-reviewed publications.
