Alicia Bonaparte is a Professor of Sociology at Pitzer College, where she has taught since 2008. She holds a BA from Spelman College and an MA/PhD from Vanderbilt University. Her research examines structural inequalities in healthcare systems with focus on:
- Racial disparities in reproductive health and maternal outcomes
- Historical and contemporary midwifery practices
- Gender dynamics in medical authority
- Policy impacts on marginalized communities
- Adolescent sexual health education
Her publications consistently address healthcare inequities through interdisciplinary lenses, blending medical sociology, critical race theory, and feminist epistemology. Recent works explore regulatory barriers in midwifery, Black women's birthing experiences, and community health determinants.
