Alice Thompson is an Academic Tutor at the University of Sunderland, teaching modules such as PSY144 Introduction to Forensic Psychology, PSY125 Psychology in the Media, PSY272 The Psychology of Belief, PSY372 Cyberpsychology, and PSY384 The Psychology of Serious and Violent Offending for the BSc (Hons) Psychology and BSc (Hons) Forensic Psychology programs.
Her research focuses on Online Behaviour, Social Media, and Cybercrime, specifically developing a psychometric scale to measure online obsessive behaviours (ranging from creeping to cyberstalking) and their continuum. This work addresses critical gaps in understanding digital interactions and their psychological implications.
Alice is currently pursuing her PhD in Psychology at the University of Sunderland, having earned a BSc in Psychology and an MSc in Psychological Research Methods from the same institution. She has been highlighted in the news for her work on adolescence and the communication gap between parents and children regarding online threats, published on 26 Mar 2025.
