معرفی
Dr. Alice Sijts is an Associate Professor at Utrecht University's Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, specializing in proteasome biology and MHC class I antigen processing. She studies immune defense mechanisms against intracellular pathogens and tumors, with a focus on inflammation-induced changes in antigen processing pathways. Her work bridges fundamental research and translational applications, including novel immunotherapies and vaccines.
Education:
- Undergraduate studies at University of Leiden (1984-1989)
- PhD studies at Netherlands Cancer Institute and University of Leiden (1989-1994)
Her research centers on molecular immunology, particularly how antigen processing supports protective immunity. She coordinates the Horizon2020 VacPath network for vaccine development against intracellular pathogens.
Scientific networks:
- Participates in European projects: TumorTregTargeting (antibody-based tumor therapies) and Inno4Vac (T-cell immune assays in 3D infection models)
- Member of NWO-ALW Programme Assessment Committee (2013)
She receives funding from The Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO) for antigen processing research and serves as Head of the T-cell tolerance research group (0.2 FTE) at Leibniz Institute for Immunotherapy since 2025.
