Dr. Alice Johnson is a Lecturer in Inorganic Chemistry at Sheffield Hallam University since 2022, affiliated with the School of Biosciences and Chemistry and the Industry and Innovation Research Institute. She contributes to both the Chemistry Research Group and the Cancer Research Group within the Biomolecular Sciences Research Centre. Her teaching spans undergraduate and postgraduate programs in chemistry and biosciences.
Dr. Johnson holds an MChem from Durham University and a PhD in Inorganic Chemistry from the University of Zaragoza, Spain, where she studied organogold complexes under Prof. M. Concepción Gimeno. Postdoctoral research included work at the University of Oxford (rhodium catalysis) and the University of Leicester (anti-cancer copper complexes).
Her research focuses on synthesizing novel metal complexes with bioactive ligands to understand their mechanisms in treating inflammatory diseases like cancer. She explores drug delivery approaches and evaluates metal complexes' cytotoxicity and anti-cancer stem cell properties.
Publications highlight her contributions to anti-cancer metal complexes and catalytic processes. She is a member of the Royal Society of Chemistry and Real Sociedad Española de Química, and currently serves as the Early Career Researcher representative for her research institute.
