Dr. Alice Hoon is an Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine at the Swansea University Medical School, part of the Faculty of Medicine, Health and Life Science. She holds a BA (Hons) in Psychology, an MSc in Behaviour Analysis, and a PhD in gambling behaviour from Swansea University's Psychology Department. Her research focuses on gambling addiction, contingency management interventions, and medical education. She currently teaches Medical Psychology on the Graduate Entry Medicine and BSc Applied Medical Science programmes. Recently awarded a £110,589 grant from GambleAware for the CONGAM feasibility study, she collaborates with Professor Simon Dymond on gambling disorder treatment and policy advocacy. Her work integrates behavioral analysis with clinical practice to address public health challenges.
Dr. Hoon’s research spans gambling behavior mechanisms, treatment efficacy, and educational methodologies. Key projects include exploring contingency management for addiction and evaluating remote learning during the pandemic.
