Alice Engelhard

Alice Engelhard is an IRD Fellow in the Department of International Relations at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). She holds expertise in movement, travel, colonialism, and International Relations theory, with a focus on postcolonial perspectives. Her research examines the politics of travel and movement in East Africa and the Indian Ocean during the decline of the British Empire.
Before academia, she worked as a civil servant in the UK Department for Education and as a project manager in an international human rights organization. Her pedagogical excellence was recognized with an LSE Excellence in Education award for outstanding teaching in IR100 – International Relations: Theories, Concepts and Debates.
