Alice Baynes

Alice Baynes is Senior Lecturer and Divisional Lead in Environmental Sciences at Brunel University London's Department of Life Sciences, College of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences. She serves on SETAC Europe's steering committee for Endocrine Disrupter Testing and Risk Assessment and co-founded Brunel's Centre for Pollution Research and Policy.

Her research focuses on endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs) in aquatic environments, particularly their impacts on fish and freshwater gastropod molluscs' development, reproduction, and immune systems. She challenges the assumption that molluscs use vertebrate-like sex steroids, advocating for improved EDC testing protocols.

Recent publications explore antidepressant drug pollution, microplastics, and pharmaceutical removal techniques, with keywords spanning Environmental Toxicology, Aquatic Pollution, and Endocrine Disruption. Notable subfields include mollusc endocrinology, antidepressant effects on gastropods, and green chemistry applications.
