Ali Shahzad is an Associate Professor of Management at the College of Business, James Madison University. He holds a Ph.D. in Strategic Management from the University of Oklahoma and a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Engineering & Technology, Lahore, Pakistan. His research focuses on corporate social performance, governance, entrepreneurial orientation, and applied econometrics. Prior to academia, he worked as an IT consultant at IBM Global Systems and IBM Federal (1999-2007).
Shahzad’s research explores intersections between corporate strategy and societal impact. Key themes include how entrepreneurial orientation influences CSR strategies, governance mechanisms affecting stakeholder engagement, and resource allocation dynamics in firms. His work bridges strategic management theory with empirical analysis, particularly in cross-national contexts. Recent studies investigate M&A strategies in healthcare, product recall management in automotive sectors, and institutional factors shaping innovation adoption.
His publications span journals like Business & Society, Journal of Business Research, and Corporate Social Responsibility & Environmental Management. Teaching focuses align with his research in corporate governance and social performance. He has held roles including Assistant Professor at JMU (2011-2017) and Research Assistant at the University of Oklahoma’s College of Business & Entrepreneurship (2007-2010).
