Ali R. Shoraka

Dr. Ali R. Shoraka serves as an Assistant Professor and Neurohospitalist at McGovern Medical School, part of The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth Houston). His clinical work focuses on comprehensive neurological care for hospitalized patients with acute neurological conditions across multiple subspecialties.

Dr. Shoraka's educational journey began with his medical degree from Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences in Tehran, Iran. He completed his internship at Lincoln Hospital in the Bronx, NY, followed by a Neurology Residency at McGovern Medical School in Houston where he earned a teaching award in his final year. He further specialized through a Clinical Neurophysiology Fellowship at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston.

His research interests primarily center on Epilepsy and Neuromuscular Disorders, with published work examining patient self-management, stigma, and cognitive aspects of neurological conditions. Clinical interests span General Neurology including Epilepsy, Stroke, Movement Disorders, and Neuro-behavioral conditions.
