Ali Moradi is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mining Engineering at the University of Kentucky's Stanley and Karen Pigman College of Engineering. Previously, he held roles at Laval University (Canada) and the University of Alberta. His expertise spans sustainable mining practices, mine planning, operational excellence, and digital transformation. Moradi earned his PhD in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Alberta in 2018, following earlier degrees from Amirkabir University of Technology in Iran.
His research focuses on integrating environmental and economic objectives in mining through advanced analytics, simulation, and operations research. Key areas include GHG-conscious production scheduling, truck dispatch optimization, and sustainable fleet management. He has also explored the application of AI and digital twins in mining operations.
Moradi's work emphasizes practical solutions for material handling, energy efficiency, and carbon pricing integration. His articles reflect a commitment to bridging theoretical models with real-world operational challenges in surface mines.
